A Bridge Between Two Worlds

We build too many walls and not enough bridges. ~ paraphrased from the writings of Joseph Fort Newton (often attributed to Sir Isaac Newton)

As I often talk about, our outer world is a reflection of our inner, and vice versa; the micro is reflected in the macro. This past month especially has shown that to be the case more than ever, which means we need to bring our own worlds into coherence, both internally within our psyches, and externally within our spheres of influence of family, friends, companies and communities.

Because, as Abraham Lincoln famously said, a house divided against itself cannot stand.”

On one level we can all do our part by finding a middle ground, trying to understand two sides of a story, and not take everything we see or hear at face value. Is that social media post fact or opinion, or taken out of context, or literally manufactured via AI or a bot for whatever reason? (For example, I had no idea who Charlie Kirk was and saw clips of him from both sides that were equally horrifying and inspiring and grounded — so where is the truth?)

Do you give your coworker, friend, partner or family member the benefit of the doubt in a conflict, text or conversation and wait to hear their version or perspective? Or do you instead assume the worst and lash out, ghost or cancel them based on limited information? Most of the time the situation is not intentional and is merely a miscommunication or misunderstanding that was never sorted out properly with time and patience.

And who says we have to agree with every single thing anyone says or believes, or hate them because of a different ideology or life experience? I don’t even agree with certain beliefs I had myself in the past! But that’s who I was then with the information and understanding I had at the time. We are all here to learn and grow — from each other. (Check out my PGG We’re All Just Walking Each Other Home or this video clip.) And under no circumstance should someone lose their life over their beliefs or simply expressing who they authentically are — or worse, have their death be celebrated.

As Walt Whitman said, “I am large, I contain multitudes.” So whether in our public, professional or private lives, we are all just presenting various aspects of ourselves depending on the circumstances around us, our culture, our level of consciousness, stress and most importantly, our level of healing and inner work we have — or more likely have not — done on ourselves to address our traumas and childhood wounds. However big or small you would describe them, they are part of the human condition and affect us whether you are aware of them or not.

It seems everyone is being severely triggered on many levels now, leading to unleashing their unhealed sh*t on each other, reacting rather than responding in ways that are less than positive or productive. If we are going to heal as a family, nation and world, we must do the work to start acting out of a healed, whole, mature place rather than a hurt place where we then end up projecting or blaming, and/or expecting some outside authority to fix it or make it better for us.

This is not easy! It’s painful at the most, uncomfortable at the least, and it takes time, effort and a level of maturity and rising-above-it that most people unfortunately do not have the ability to do because of the aforementioned unhealed sh*t. This is not their fault because we have a culture that thrives on exacerbating rather than mitigating the pain, which is why it is much easier to avoid, distract or numb in oh-so-many ways these days. It’s powerful stuff that feels, at times, will require Herculean effort to redirect or confront.

But if you can muster it, being a voice of reason and calm in the midst of emotional uproar will serve you well. If you must comment or share something, consider a more balanced rather than inflammatory or one-sided approach. (My video clip Be a point of calm in the storm speaks to this.)

Because what we need is more balm, not bombast.

So how can you be a bridge between Red and Blue, Black and White, Muslim and Christian and Jew, Immigrant and ICE, Men and Women, Straight and LGBTQ, Science and Religion, and at some point probably Alien, AI and Human! The list goes on … and can get more and more granular if you want to keep slicing and dicing our existence into US versus THEM — whatever labels apply. The divide-and-conquer possibilities and tactics are infinite, if we don’t disrupt them.

The deeper issue of being divided against oneself — i.e., your ego/human and Higher self, your left and right brains, your conscious and subconscious self, your inner child and inner adult — requires even more awareness, discipline and patience and a major level of responsibility, and often support, should you choose to accept it.

The two themes above are how I have always approached life and worked to model and offer ways to help others do the same, to the best of my ability, which, like any human, isn’t always the best. I even founded a nonprofit with the tagline “Recognizing our Unity; Celebrating Our Diversity” back in 2001 and was a coach/personal growth expert in 2007 before anyone knew or cared what that was #alwaysaheadofmytime. But now a third way is emerging, one that I didn’t have on my bingo card for 2025 — or ever!

As the Universe now has me (as one of my many jobs) serving as a bridge between those who have passed and those who are still living, what I am learning is that this, too, is part of the equation of healing a house divided and is a gift to both sides of the veil.

Because those who are still here and those who have crossed over both need understanding and forgiveness, as each continue along in their own process of healing in different realms. Being available as a mediator between these worlds to express what couldn’t previously be expressed is quite powerful and is doing double duty, as we are all connected in the quantum field. So any healing and release that transpires in this context contributes to the overall “soup” and means that we all benefit. (I share a specific example of this on YouTube here.)

Last month I celebrated my 18th year as a holistic career and life coach, but my work now includes being an intuitive guide and reader. This means that in addition to assessing the practical and historical experiences of your career and life, I can also offer keen insights about the inner workings and dynamics of your personality, purpose and trajectory. It has been an honor and a privilege to witness the profound healing and beneficial realizations for those touched by my sessions, regardless of which format they choose.

Whether as a coach connecting dots, offering guidance and support using your resume and going through your current life and how you got to where you are now, or through a purely intuitive lens via your birth chart for a deeper way of being seen and understood, uncovering past life patterns impacting this one, perhaps with messages from friends, family or others who have passed — or a combination of the two — I am here for you.

Especially during this time of massive transformation and uncertainty, it’s easy to feel lost and rudderless and not sure where to turn. When you work with me you get “more bang for your buck,” since having both intuitive abilities and coaching skills are what set me apart from many other practitioners out there in either field, which means you get the best of all the worlds I am bridging.

As a coach I am highly intuitive and as a reader I bring a breadth and depth of understanding and practical wisdom accrued over nearly two decades as a coach. In other words, I skew woo, but with a down-to-earth style, expertise and perspective that is needed for what we are and will be going through.

As we just began a new “school year,” the Fall offers an opportunity for fresh starts, ways to expand your self-awareness, let go of the past, organize your life, and consider how you want to present yourself and what you want to achieve during this season and beyond. There are some great journaling questions in last month’s Paper Moons, Flights of Fancy and What You Will to help you think about what this new, more aligned version of yourself might look like. But if you want a partner to help clarify and support you in that process, check out my Autumn Alignment session special offer, good through 10/23.
