Don’t Worry About a Thing
Take some time to smell the roses and see the perfection of it all
Slow down. Take a deep breath. Look at a flower or go for a walk in Nature. Feel the sun on your face. Listen to music that makes you feel good. Sing. Dance. Nap. What can you be grateful for in this moment?
Let the snow-globe glitter within you settle. Take another deep breath.
If the above is all you read and heed today, then writing this will have been worth it.
I don’t know about you, but the last month felt like a cyclone came to town, kicked up a couple of things — not necessarily bad — and then abruptly came to a halt. Now we’re just getting our bearings to process and integrate what the heck just happened?!
We need to feel out this new territory, which is still quite unsettled and perhaps a little intense. Hence, my above suggestions … Allow the time and space for yourself to just be instead of do for a minute.
As I’ve mentioned many times over the past few years (as a reminder, I’ve been taking a break from weekly essays, which you can refresh your memory about here), we are living in extraordinary times. This includes periodic cycles of acceleration — kind of the Universe’s way of kicking us in the butt and moving us along a little faster than we might go on our own.
So take some time this weekend and in the weeks ahead to feel your way through and integrate what that next step or new direction, habit or relationship might look like. The key is to take it SLOW. With so many moving parts, both individually and collectively, it’s a wise thing to do. And remember, everyone is experiencing this in one degree or another, so be patient and have compassion for both you and them.
My message to you is: As long as you do that and trust in the process and the divine order of it all, as Bob Marley’s “Three Little Birds” sang, “Every little thing gonna be all right.” Sometimes that’s all we need to hear to feel better, so I’m offering that to you.
If you’d like to see how I heeded my own advice to get out of a bad place, check out this IG Reel, and here’s another fun, random part of my whirlwind month. If you want to connect on a more regular basis and see what’s up with me personally, professionally and creatively, I’m most active on Instagram.
