I Matter, You Matter, We All Matter
Knowing how you can make a difference in a world gone mad
With all that’s happening in the world today, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and helpless as the powers that be do their thing and innocent people suffer as mere pawns in their game — no matter what kind of game, which country or what labels are assigned to it.
Unless you are directly impacted, or are a key player in that particular game, how do you navigate such times, especially if you are consciously aware and care? We can express our concern and shared humanity in myriad ways, and we can do our best to clean up the environment around us of any conflict because, as the song says, “Let there be peace on Earth and let it begin with me.”
Besides any economic or other immediate tangible consequences from events abroad, it’s also important to remember that we are all impacting each other, as we collectively make up the same energetic “soup.” So if you wonder whether what is happening in Ukraine or Canada, Yemen or any other country in turmoil has anything to do with you, it does, if only on subtle levels.
And then there is the media, which are always trying to influence the soup for their own purposes (as I have recently witnessed watching the difference between citizen footage and interviews on the ground in Canada versus what was and is being more widely reported), so we need to monitor our responses in a way that is grounded and somewhat detached with healthy skepticism, using multiple sources/vantage points to hopefully get to some semblance of the truth.
The bottom line is that our power always lies in the present moment, as today’s thoughts and actions deposit into the soup and create tomorrow’s reality.
So if there is anything you can “do,” it is to learn how to stay in that power for as much of our waking days as possible. That includes choosing what you focus on, finding gratitude for the little things, being as loving and joyful as possible, and establishing a foundation of peace and good vibes from within.
Then have faith and trust that who you are, how you are and what you do matters more than you know, both for your own life and for humanity at large. We need each other more than ever — we’re counting on you to do your part to be present and add your positive power to the greater grid that binds us all.
