Let Some Light In
Be grateful for any cracks in your life; it’s part of our growth
It seems that no matter where you turn, things are breaking down, going backward, are topsy-turvy or are all-around wack!
Remember, though, that the outer is always a reflection of the inner, from microcosm to macrocosm. We think we have little control over the world at large, which leaves us feeling powerless, but the good news is that we can look to our own lives and be grateful for where we are experiencing any “cracks,” because, as Leonard Cohen famously sang, that’s how the light gets in. And the more light that each of us lets into our lives, the brighter the world becomes.
So no matter what you might be going through, trust that it is happening for your own growth and transformation — the Universe is trying to evolve us and that’s always a good thing, even if it doesn’t look or feel that way!
It’s been such an intense, challenging and uncertain time, and if you are self-aware and sensitive, you feel everything more strongly, so be gentle and compassionate with yourself and others. We are all navigating unsettled and choppy waters.
And if you are feeling any fear or anxiety, know that you’re not alone. As much as you can, step outside yourself and just observe what you are feeling without judging it or thinking it is who you are or that it’s going to be permanent.
Ask yourself what it is trying to show or teach you, and trust that it will move through — and you can help it along with things like spending time in Nature and feeding your mind positive, uplifting content. Because your media consumption — what you expose your mind, eyes and ears to — is just as important as what you physically put in your body.
This is one of the reasons I created my new book Say It To Make It: Affirmations to Empower the Heart, Mind, Spirit and Soul — so that you can have some nourishing mind-food! One reader, Steven A., realized the importance of such a tool and said, “Everyone should read this after watching the news.”
