Memory Magic
Taking time to create meaning for yourself, others and what is left behind
Back in July, I talked about how I took a trip down memory lane by going through a ton of letters, photos and other memorabilia, and how it led to some profound healing and insights.
Turns out I inadvertently ended the summer with that theme as well, helping to create a fun, beautiful memory for my dear friend Alex’s big birthday, tying in the honoring and flavor of our mutual friend Danny (black and white photo on the mantel) and Alex’s older brother Mark (represented by his hat, which was gifted to me and worn here as part of my MC duties), both of whom passed away in 2007.
Putting together an extended video and activities for his party brought me down memory lane again, not only because of all the times we shared and how significant he has been in my life and the lives of so many. I was also reminded of what’s important in terms of how we spend our time and energy, the power of the present, the effort it takes to create, the rewards of those efforts, and the imprint, the memory it will leave both now and in the hereafter for whoever experiences us, or our creations, directly or through the images left behind. It’s our personal magic.
There’s so much to say about how this all impacted me, but for now I’ll leave you with these questions to reflect on: How are you using your very precious and limited time and energy? What of your life’s time and energy is going to remain when you are gone? What of your creations will last when you are no longer here? How can you spend more quality time with yourself and your loved ones? How can you let them know how much they mean to you TODAY, not when they are gone?
We live with such constant and addictive distractions and are told what’s important or what to be focusing on from the outside world, and most of that is a waste of time or an escape from reality, not anything that truly matters. And it seems to be getting harder and harder for folks to know the difference before it’s too late.
Don’t wait for a natural or man-made disaster, war, loss or health crisis (and my heart goes out to all affected by the many recent and current ones) to know what your values are and start using your time and energy in alignment with them. (Here’s a little one-minute video about values and an Instagram Live about detox and getting high.)
So with the new school year now begun and we approach the official start of Fall (as well as the Jewish New Year, Shana Tovah!), why not take this opportunity to regroup and explore how to create a life that is more true to who you are now or want to be and what you want next, one that has meaning and is full of magic memories.
And to help you do just that, I’m offering a special Autumn Alignment Coaching Session! Sign up by October 15 for a special 75-minute Zoom or phone call for just $239. Click here for more details and to book.
